If I'm watching a really good film, I tend to get lost in it. I have no concept of time or where I am - it's just me and the story.
In my opinion, filmmaking is one of the most awesome careers to have. It's an art in itself. It's a way to take all your creativity and make it into a visual masterpiece (hopefully) or at the very least - to evoke feelings. I am fascinated by what you can do with light and angles, actors and plot. I am obsessed with film scoring - no I don't score myself, but they intrigue me and the right score enhances a film tenfold! It's all the little parts - the mesh of creative minds coming together to create this great thing. Do I like the long days on set - sure, as long as there is coffee with French Vanilla creamer around! Do I like sitting with or having the lengthiest convo with the editor? YES! Do I like the paperwork involved? Hell NO, but it's a necessary evil and you have to cover your behind at all times. Do I like how long it could take to set up a shot? I don't mind it, it has to be right. I have a friend who's a really dope photographer and when she started photography she would tell me how much she hated editing. I told her that it's a part of what she loves to do and that she needed to embrace it - change her approach. Now - she can't wait to get to her laptop after a shoot to edit. It's all perspective.
I can't say I have one favorite aspect of filmmaking that I love because I'd be torn between directing and editing. I love both immensely. the one thing that I love about making films is the ability to leave reality to visit other worlds, experience other people and different situations that you may have or haven't experienced before. I love filmmaking because it removes me from the real world for a while. It's the only time I don't worry about bills, or working a 9-5 or any of that.
There's something magical about it!
